The Crossing at St Mary’s Cathedral

This picture shows the ceiling of the crossing at St Mary’s Cathedral, Glasgow. Prior to 1990 it was dark wood and white (peeling) plaster and showing the effects of water damage.

During the Phase 2 of the restoration, the american artist, Gwyneth Leach, then living in Glasgow and a member of the Cathedral Choir, won the competition to design the new decoration of the building.

The crossing ceiling seen here does really have a shooting stars and a space ship.
