Midnight Mass of Christmas 2009 saw us at the Cathedral Church of St Mary the Virgin in Glasgow. We got seats in the pew of the north aisle by crib scene. This gave us a good view of the blessing of the crib at the beginning of the service. This year the crib scene was assembled on the first window sill of the north aisle, with illuminatation being provided by candles.
The Provost – The Very Rev Kelvin Holdsworth – preached and presided at the Eucharist, assisted by other members of the Cathedral Clergy Team. The communion setting was a 1988 composition by Frikki Walker, the Director of Music, from his time at Wells Cathedral.
After the service I took some pictures of the High Altar Trees, lights and candles. If you have not already come across the video of the decorating the High Altar and Christmas Trees, here is the result of the time lapse video from Kevin on YouTube.
A few more pictures can be seen on my fotopic site.
