Cuneo’s Mouse at Waterloo

A friend drew my attention to the statue of Terence Cuneo in Waterloo Station.

I went to the station to have a look for myself and take some pictures. Coming up from the Northern line it is easy to miss. The last time I was in this area of the station – in 1996, the Eurostar terminal was still in use. Then the area was a light open space, but now the edge of the mezzanine above the ex-Eurostar reception is filled with concessions. The Eurostar section of the station is derelict and boarded up. The statue if crowded and almost hidden by the concessions.

Shame really – his statue deserves the same space the John Betjemin has at St Pancras (see my picture in my fotopic collection).
