God, we implore thee, in thy glory seated:
bow down and hearken to thy weeping children:
pity and pardon all our grievous trespasses.

The Thornflower

The Thornflower

The Thornflower is being displayed in the tower space at Southwark Cathedral from Ash Wednesday until after Easter. By Charlotte Mayer, FRBS, it is a reconcilation of two diametrically opposed elements. The Thorns, sharp and cruel, are cut in sainless steel. The flowers were modelled in wax, before being cast in bronze. The scuplture is mounted in a wooden circular base.
