Sins oft committed, now we lay before thee:
with true contrition, now no more we veil them:
grant us, Redeemer, loving absolution.

The Cathedral in Salzburg is dedicated to Saints Rupert and Virgil. The first building was consecrated by the Abbot and Bishop Virgil, from Ireland, in 774. Archbishop Markus Sittikus began the building of the current building after a fire, which was consecrated in 1628.

On 16 October 1944 the dome took a direct hit from an aerial bomb. The image show the inside of the new dome, that was completed in 1959.
