The weekend we were in Bristol coincided with the Harbour Festival. This meant that five of the Shauns on this trail had been relocated outside Aardman Animations (along with the resident Shaun and two from the Temple Trail).
We took the route by following the trail anti-clockwise
The first two No. 46 – Shaun Bean and No. 45 – The Pirate Captain had been relocated, this meant that after crossing the swing bridge over the harbour at Prince Street, Bahhber-sheep was in its own field.
To reach the next location meant a walk along Cumberland Road, on the north bank of the river Avon to the offices of Aardman Animations. The resident Shaun was Lotus
However as the Harbour Festival was in progress, five other Harbourside Trail Shauns (and two Temple Trail Shauns). These Shauns were Shaun Bean from Narrow Quay.
The Pirate Captain from outside M Shed.
Air Fleece from Canon’s Marsh Amphitheatre.
Life Aquatic from Bristol Aquarium.
Beach Boy from the Cascade Steps.
Leaving Aardman Animations, the next Shaun was on the south side of the harbour towards the west end. At Baltic Wharf, Sgt. Shepherd was located decorated in a Beatles style theme.
Walking around the west end of the harbour and through part of the ship repair yards, the access to the harbour was crossed via the swing bridge at Merchants Road. Jarsberry Ram was in the beer garden of The Pump House
Walking along the north side of the harbour and along Hotwell Road, the next Shaun was the aptly called On the Waterfront
As the next Shaun (Air Fleece) had already been seen as it was relocated, the next Shaun Dolly was reached via Anchor Road.
Once again the next Shaun Life Aquatic at the Bristol Aquarium had been relocated and already found, so the next one was at the Bristol 2015 Lab. We walked past it initially as the map inferred it was outside. We reached the harbour steps without finding it. Re-tracing our steps we found Green Poems for a Blue Planet inside the Bristol 2015 Lab premises.
With the final Shaun on the trail, Beach Boy also located at Aardman Animations and previously seen, this completed the Harbourside Trail. It took us 84 minutes compared to a two hour target time.
We then embarked on the final trail that we were to follow – the Old City Trail.
