Our third base during our Ontario holiday was just outside Huntsville near the west entrance to Algonquin Park. I had previous been to Huntsville and stayed at Fairy Bay Guest House in 2007, and it was decided that we would stay there this time.

Since the 2007 visit the hosts have changed. John & Christine Kropp are now in charge. Christine also runs the Whimsical Bakery. The rooms have had a makeover and previously they were named after colours, they are now named after birds. We were in the Sparrow Room.

The breakfasts are still fantastic, starting with a selection of cereals, rools and muffins, there is also a hot option.

There are extensive facilities for guests. Inside there is a guest kitchen, which include a fridge and the means to make hot drinks and prepare barbecues. Outside there it a beach with seating on the lake shore, with a landing stage. There is also a barbecue area and a garden swing.

We were the only guests at the time of our visit. It was a great return visit, and as we have decided that Algonquin Park needs further exploring, it is highly likely that we we will visit again.
